Yesterday ended up being a really productive day. We had another sewing day at my mother in laws and I actually got a lot done on my quilt. I never intended to keep working on it because I can do a lot of it at home.. I wanted to start on a couple pillows or maybe my skirt, but I just kept working on my quilt because it was going fairly smooth. Here are some pictures of my progress. I sewed blocks of 10 across and 7 down, and then I had to sew strips together, which is what I finished last night while peter was still working:
Then, from those strips I have to iron good, and sew two together, then add more and more and then I will be done with that major part! The next step after that would be the borders, and then the backing, and then the binding. So i am excited and sad at the same time... what will I work on? Maybe i will start another quilt- either for maddy or for a gift for a friend. Once I know what i am doing, it goes by pretty quickly. But if i'm lost, then I feel like I dont want to do the quilt anymore. (Especially if I dont even know how to run my machine that well!)
Today I plan to go for a walk with the kids since it is cool, and do a few loads of laundry to ease up on my workload on monday, since that is my meal day. It feels good to not have to cook today-- so today I might do some buns and tomorrow maybe i will make some bars for Monday. I plan to make pot roast on Monday so it can be in the crock pot. I just have to say that I am praising god right now for no rain. This means if they get a good day in today, they will have about 2 or so days of combining left. I feel so thankful for their hard work in the field... for peter being able to support our family.I am happy to help them when I can. Well I better go! Here's the girls yesterday.

Quilt
I am in a bad mood right now. It mostly started when Kate fell and hit her head, then maddy had a huge tantrum, and then I burned my granola. Then other things got me in a bad mood. Anyway.. here is some of kate's quilt i've been working on....finally getting pictures up. I will most likely go work on that in a little bit.

Quilt
Last night was supposed to be date night. But because we were both tired, we skipped it. I begged my oldest sister to come take the kids for a few hours. She's involved with the ambulance crew, and was on call, but in case she had to leave, my parents would have took over and we would have picked up the kids. It was so nice to be at home and have a little break. Maddy is teething, so the constant whining and crying has been overwhelming. And she actually slept in til 7:15 today, instead of 6!! I'm so thankful.
I decided to ask my sister to take the kids because I hardly ever get help and I just need to be asking more, especially if they're wanting and willing to see the girls. I just have a hard time bothering people when I feel I am fully capable of taking care of them myself. There's nothing wrong with a break once in a while :) It felt soo good!! We ate dinner in silence and I didnt have to get up once during the meal. Then i cleaned up a little bit and Peter wanted to go look at the bean field next to town. So we went to the store to get some more popsicles and checked out the field. We were going to start the movie at 7 but decided to just relax. I worked on my quilt!! I finished cutting on the first page of my directions and began to pin actual blocks!! After i sew those together, I have more cutting to do (boo) and then i get to sew more blocks together, bigger blocks. I am hoping today I can do some sewing. Whether its during nap or if peter feels well enough to watch them for a little bit. It would have been nice to get it done for kates birthday but... its already in one week. There's no way I can get it done, especially if I get sick. I am praying really hard I don't get sick. I really want to go to church, and I really want to go to my small group bible study in Kennedy. I've already missed 2 weeks due to sicknesses but I've kept up with my workbook and have watched the dvds for those two sessions. Anyway, I should start my day now. I will most likely be outside if its not too cold and hopefully we can have a fun day today.

No Date Night!
Hi. Today is Friday, which is usually a date night for us. But due to an exhausting week, we are skipping it. Also, the winter olympics are on. No really, we're going to bed early. Today I went to my appointment in Grand Forks (finally) after 6 months of having to reschedule (long story). It went ok. We went to Target and Sams Club to purchase a whole bunch of formula/milk/cereal, etc for the Haiti drive that I had mentioned. So far, 5 people have contacted me to donate. PTL!!! I will be going again on Tuesday I believe to make some more purchases and then to the Covenant Church in GF to drop off. I am so thrilled. I hope I am making the right amount of purchases. I have contacted a couple ladies who are in charge, and one that has been to Haiti. I hope she will reply to let me know what they need *most*.
I was going to post some pictures of my quilting project. I did on facebook, but I suppose I could on here too, since some dont have facebook. Here they are:
I was going to post some pictures of my quilting project. I did on facebook, but I suppose I could on here too, since some dont have facebook. Here they are:
The top two were my "lessons" from my mother in law. I have never quilted before (post home-ec) so this was a neat experience. I learned most when I had to do it on my own. Cheryll had left to Arizona and I was responsible to do some cutting myself. Then I went to "quilting" in Stephen, where a bunch of ladies get together and quilt all day -- literally. They even would bring lunch and suppers! I got to go a couple times after 3pm when Peter was done with work on the slow days....so I havent gotten much done. But i am starting to sew more now, as you can see in the pictures. I dont really care how long it takes me. It is fun to do it when I can. Maybe I will learn enough to make one for Maddy all by myself!
